Test in Dashboard
This page describes how to test Swedish BankID in the Dashboard with your sandbox account before you start integrating in production. In this way you can learn more about available options and how to connect to the eID.
Setup for testing
Sign up and add domain
If you do not have an account already, then you need to sign up to the Signicat Dashboard for free and complete the initial preparations. To do this:
- Sign up to the Signicat Dashboard and register your profile.
- Ensure that you have created an organisation.
- Create an account. To do this:
- Go to Signicat Dashboard > Organisation, then select + Add account.
- Enter an account name, choose the type of account that you want to create, then select Create.
- Create a domain. To do this:
- Go to Signicat Dashboard > Settings > Domain management, then select + Add domain.
- To create a standard domain, enter a domain name. Then, select Add domain.
- To create a custom domain, follow the instructions in the Custom domains documentation.
We recommend that you create a sandbox account to test our services before going live. Sandbox and production accounts must be set up separately.
Add Swedish BankID
Once you have signed up and added a domain, you can add Swedish BankID to the list of supported eIDs.
- In the Signicat Dashboard, navigate to Products > eID Hub > eIDs.
- Select + Add new in the top right.
- Choose the eID from the list. Add any required configuration, then select Add.
- Now, review that the eID is available and set to "Active" in the eIDs list.

Add BankID
Order a test user and set up a test BankID
To be able to go through all the steps in the BankID authentication flow, you need to:
Order a test user
If you already have a user for production BankID, you can log in to https://demo.bankid.com and issue test users as explained below. This is also possible using an existing valid test user.
- Prepare a name and "personnummer" (Swedish national identification number) for the test users you wish to create.
- The personnummer should be a valid 12-digit number in the format
YYYYMMDDNNNN.ImportantIf you do not have a personnummer, you can generate one for testing at https://www.personnummer.nu. The website provides numbers in the format
YYMMDD-NNNN. This means that you need to convert the generated number to the formatYYYYMMDDNNNNbefore you can use it.
If you do not have a BankID, you may order a code from https://demo.bankid.com/ordercode and issue new test users.
Set up a test BankID
To be able to test the BankID authentication, you need to set up a test version of BankID and download the BankID app. For more details, see BankID's web pages.
Test Swedish BankID
Once you have set up the test environment (as described above), you can test how BankID works for the end-user in the Dashboard:
- In the Dashboard eIDs list, select Test eIDs.
- You can now select Swedish BankID login in Signicat's demo environment and start testing the BankID flow.
