Effective date: 10/03/2024
Last updated: 26/06/2025

Signicat is committed to ensuring that Signicat's Enterprise iDIN solution is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. Our goal is to make our content as accessible as possible for all users. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards. Accessibility is a fundamental aspect of our product development and delivery strategies. We aim to provide an inclusive and positive experience for everyone.

# Measures to support accessibility

Signicat takes the following measures to ensure the accessibility of iDIN:

  • Include accessibility as part of our mission statement.
  • Incorporate accessibility throughout our internal policies.
  • Integrate accessibility into our procurement practices.
  • Appoint an accessibility coordinator.
  • Provide continual accessibility training for our staff.
  • Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.
  • Employ formal accessibility quality assurance methods.
  • Work directly with institutions and their users to understand problems and areas for improvement.
  • Conduct usability research with users with disabilities.
  • Partner with various organisations for support, training, and research.

# Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) (opens new window) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Signicat is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

# Other standards

# Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology

iDIN is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • The latest version of Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari browsers.
  • The latest versions of NVDA and VoiceOver.

# Technical specifications

Accessibility of iDIN relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

# Limitations

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of Signicat Enterprise iDIN, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Known limitations for iDIN:

  • 1.4.11 Non-text Contrast: The focus state of drop-down elements has a contrast ratio of 2:1, which falls below the required minimum of 3:1 for user interface components.
  • 1.4.5 Images of Text / 1.1.1 Non-text Content: The footer content, including the missing "Powered by Signicat" text, is presented as images instead of using actual text. This is unnecessary since the same visual presentation can be achieved using text alone.
  • 1.3.1 Info and Relationships / 2.4.6 Headings and Labels: The section containing the dropdown menu ("Choose your bank...") and the OK and Cancel buttons lacks a clear description or heading that explains its purpose or context. Users, especially those relying on assistive technologies, may not fully understand the purpose of this section or how it fits into the overall workflow, potentially leading to confusion or incorrect actions.
  • 2.4.6 Headings and Labels / 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value: The dropdown button labelled "Choose your bank..." includes an ellipsis ("..."), which suggests there is more text or hidden content, but it does not provide clear context or a complete description of its purpose.
  • 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value: The "Cancel" option is currently implemented as a link instead of a button. Links and buttons have different roles and behaviors, which can cause confusion for users, particularly those relying on assistive technologies or keyboard navigation.
  • 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum): The text on the "OK" and "Cancel" buttons does not meet the minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 in all states (e.g., default, hover, focus, active).
  • 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum): The text items in the dropdown menu do not meet the minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their background.
  • 1.4.11 Non-text Contrast: The exclamation mark (!) icon does not meet the minimum contrast ratio of 3:1 against adjacent colours.
  • 1.3.1 Info and Relationships / 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value: The footer text "Powered by Signicat" is not announced by screen readers. This may occur because the footer lacks proper semantic structure or ARIA attributes to make it perceivable by assistive technologies.
  • 1.3.4 Orientation: The footer text "Powered by Signicat" is missing when the page is viewed in horizontal (landscape) orientation, violating the requirement that content must be operable and viewable in both portrait and landscape orientations unless a specific orientation is essential.
  • 2.4.2 Page Titled: The web page lacks a descriptive and informative title. This means that users, especially those relying on assistive technologies, cannot quickly identify the page's content or purpose without reading or interpreting the page itself.
  • 2.5.8 Target Size (Minimum): The arrow icon is positioned too close to the right component edge, potentially violating the minimum target size requirement of 24 by 24 CSS pixels.

# Assessment approach

Signicat assessed the accessibility of iDIN by the following approach:

  • Self-evaluation
