# Accessibility statement for Assure Capture

Effective date: 22/12/2021
Last updated: 07/04/2026

Everyone should have an equal opportunity to use Signicat's Assure Capture application. Our goal is to make our content as accessible as possible for all users. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

# Assure Capture

Capture is a web application that businesses can use to perform electronic identity verification (eIDV) of their customers, i.e. to scan and verify identity documents using one or more of the supported eIDV providers. Capture app aims to provide a unique and simple way of integrating these identification services in a web browser.

# Measures to support accessibility

Signicat takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of Capture:

  • Include accessibility as part of our mission statement.
  • Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.
  • Integrate accessibility into our procurement practices.
  • Appoint an accessibility officer.
  • Provide continual accessibility training for our team.
  • Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.
  • Employ formal accessibility quality assurance methods.

# Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) (opens new window) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Signicat is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

# Other standards

# Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology

Capture is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Google Chrome
  • Safari
  • Firefox
  • Edge
  • Opera
  • Brave

Capture is not compatible with:

  • Internet Explorer

Accessibility of Capture relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

# Limitations

Despite our ongoing efforts to align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards, there may be some areas where we are still working to enhance the experience. Below is a description of potential limitations you may encounter as we roll out updates.

If you experience any difficulty using Capture, or observe an issue not listed below, please contact us so we can assist you.

Known areas for ongoing improvement:

  • Keyboard navigation: Some interactive elements or custom menus may not be fully operable, or easily closed, using only a keyboard. Additionally, mechanisms to easily bypass repetitive page content may occasionally be absent. Fails WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard, WCAG 2.1.2 No Keyboard Trap, WCAG 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks.

  • Focus visibility: For users navigating via the keyboard, the visual indicator showing which element currently has focus may sometimes be missing. Fails WCAG 2.4.7 Focus Visible.

  • Colour and visual contrast: Certain text elements, user interface components, or informational icons may not always meet the minimum recommended colour contrast ratios against their backgrounds. In a few instances, colour or visual shape alone may be used to convey information. Fails WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (minimum), WCAG 1.4.11 Non-text Contrast, WCAG 1.3.3 Sensory Characteristics, WCAG 1.4.1 Use of Colour.

  • Zooming and responsiveness: When magnifying the screen up to 400%, some page content may overlap or require scrolling in both horizontal and vertical directions to be viewed completely. Fails WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow, WCAG 1.4.4 Resize Text.

  • Page structure and semantics: The underlying structural hierarchy of some pages (such as primary heading levels) may occasionally be incomplete, which could slightly affect the navigation experience for users relying on screen readers. Fails WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships.
