# About Mobiil-ID

Mobiil-ID is a mobile and SIM-card based identification solution that can be used for authentication and electronic document signing in various online services in Estonia and Lithuania. It is developed by SK ID Solutions and is issued in co-operation with the following mobile providers:

  • Lithuania: Bite, Tele2 and Telia
  • Estonia: Elisa, Tele2 and Telia

To use Mobiil-ID, the end-user must have a mobile phone holding a special SIM card, issued by their mobile service provider. The mobile service provider checks the identity of the customer before issuing the SIM-card and gives instructions on how to activate Mobiil-ID on their phone.

# Level of assurance

Mobiil-ID is eIDAS (opens new window) certified and supports "high" level of assurance.

If you need more information about the level of assurance used by Mobiil-ID, please contact SK ID Solutions (opens new window).

# Use case examples

Once Mobiil-ID is activated, it can be used for various online services:

  • Digital onboarding: To be able to apply for a loan, a bank may require a user to register and become a customer of this bank. Mobiil-ID can be used as a stand alone method or in combination with other services provided by Signicat to verify an identity.

  • Authentication: When the user has completed the digital onboarding process, Mobiil-ID can be used to log into their account. The authentication will result in a type of response that depends on the type of authentication protocol used.

  • Electronic signing: Your bank customer can apply for a loan and sign the loan application with Mobiil-ID.

# Screen example

In this example, we assume a bank customer is asked to log in to your site, using Mobiil-ID.

  1. The user is asked to enter their phone number and a personal code.
  2. After entering this data, the user will see a control/verification code appearing on the device screen.
  3. After a moment the user will see the same code appearing on the mobile phone screen. The user confirms if the code on their mobile is the same as on the other device screen.
  4. The user enters their PIN code, sPIN1 for authentication or sPIN2 for signing. The number of these sPIN codes might differ with different mobile service providers and you might have only one sPIN code for both authentication and signing.
