Test in Dashboard
This page describes how to test Auðkenni App in the Dashboard with your sandbox account before you start integrating in production. In this way you can learn more about available options and how to connect to the eID.
Setup for testing
Sign up and add a domain
If you don't have an account already, sign up for a free Signicat account by completing the following initial preparations:
- Sign up to the Signicat Dashboard and register your profile. For more details, see the Get started with Signicat guide.
- In the Dashboard, make sure you have set up an organisation and an account.
- Additionally, to use this product, you must set up a domain.
We recommend you create a sandbox account to test our services before going live. Sandbox and production accounts must be set up separately.
Add Auðkenni App
Once you have signed up and added a domain, you can add Auðkenni App to the list of supported eIDs.
- In the Signicat Dashboard, navigate to Products > eID Hub > eIDs.
- Select + Add new in the top right.
- Choose the eID from the list. Add any required configuration, then select Add.
- Now, review that the eID is available and set to "Active" in the eIDs list.

Download the Auðkenni DEMO app
To be able to test the whole login flow, you need access to the Auðkenni DEMO app. Please, contact Auðkenni to get started with this.
The DEMO app is only available in Google Play. However, the production app is available in both App Store and Google Play.
Download steps:
- Provide Auðkenni with your email address connected to your Google Play account.
- Auðkenni will send you an email with a link to the Auðkenni DEMO app.
- Ensure you are signed into your Google Play account before you click the download link in the email from Auðkenni. This will give you access to install the demo app (see below image).

Test Auðkenni App
In your sandbox account, you can test the Auðkenni App with a few simple steps:
- In the Signicat Dashboard, navigate to Products > eID Hub > eIDs.
- Select Test eIDs in the top right to start a test session.
- Optional. If you activated other eIDs, choose Auðkenni App from the list.
- Enter your personal code.
- The Auðkenni app displays a verification code in the login flow and asks you to verify this code in the app.
- You open the Auðkenni app and confirm that the verification code is the same by entering a personal PIN code (PIN1 for authentication and PIN2 for signing).
