# About Swisscom AIS

Swisscom AIS (all-in signing) is a native signing service that can be used throughout the EU and the EEA. This service is provided by Swisscom, a Swiss telecommunications provider.

# Key features

  • Swisscom AIS can be used in two different jurisdictions: it can be configured to cover either the eIDAS regulation (EU/EEA-applicable) or the ZertES Signature Act (applicable in Switzerland).
  • Natural persons that want to use this service must identify themselves on an app (Registration Authority (RA) app). This only has to be done once. In order to allow their users to register through the RA app, merchants must become RA agents, which means that they will be responsible for administrating their end-users with the app. The app is maintained and supported by Swisscom.
  • Swisscom AIS covers a wide range of nationalities. End-users from most countries will only be able to use their passports as valid identification, but others will also be able to use their government-issued IDs (e.g. Austria, Belgium, Finland).

Important

When a natural person registers on the RA app, their identity on the app will be valid as long as the original ID document they used to prove their identity is valid.

# Integrating with Swisscom AIS through Signicat

Web integration with Swisscom AIS is done via the same API as Signicat's other ID methods. See Getting started with authentication for more information. Through the single point of integration, merchants get access to Signicat's wide portfolio of integrated ID methods, as well as other services like identity proofing.

# Electronic signatures

This section explains what the signing process looks like from the point of view of the end-user. First, the signer is asked to provide some personal information:

Then, the signer is asked to confirm their identity and willingness to sign. If they have Swiss Mobile ID enabled, it will be used at this point.

End-users without Swiss Mobile ID are redirected to Swisscom to enter their personal password from the RA app and a one-time code sent through SMS.

After this, the document is signed.
