Templates
The Templates page allows you to customise the email messages and end-user screens for Signicat IAM (SIAM) with your own branding. For example, you can customise the text of email messages and modify the visual appearance of screens used during end-user registration, login, and password reset.
You can create and apply your own style to templates across many languages.
To access and edit your SIAM templates, go to Signicat Dashboard > Templates > SIAM templates.
Default templates
SIAM provides a default template for every email and end-user page. When you start using SIAM, the system automatically uses these default templates.
SIAM uses two types of templates:
To learn more about the available templates, visit the Available templates section below.
Prerequisites
To manage and modify your SIAM templates, you need the Template Editor role in the Signicat Dashboard.
To get this role, you need to contact us by creating a support ticket in the Signicat Dashboard.
How to customise templates
You can create, edit and use your own templates by following the steps below.
1. Override the default template
You can define your own templates by overriding the existing default templates. Then, you can choose which template to use in your SIAM platform.
To override a template, follow these steps:
- Go to SIAM templates. Make sure to select your organisation and account in the top navigation bar of the Signicat Dashboard.
- Choose the template you want to modify from the list.
- Expand the Language dropdown on the left-hand menu and select your target language.
Language-specific templates
You can only modify templates for one language at a time. To apply the same changes to multiple languages, you must repeat these steps for each language.
- Click Override to create your own version of the default template.
- Configure the following properties:
- Name: The name of your custom template.
- Type: The markup language to use.
- Convert to: (Optional) The markup language to convert the template to.
You have now created your own custom template from the default template. To edit its code and text, proceed to Edit custom templates.
2. Edit custom templates
To edit your custom template, follow these steps:
- Select your target language and your custom template from the list on the left-hand sidebar.
- Click the kebab menu (three vertical dots) at the top right and select Edit version.
- Click inside the code block and edit the template code. To discard your changes, click Cancel.
- Click Preview to inspect the rendered HTML. You can exit preview mode by clicking Close at the top right.
- Click Save when you are satisfied with your changes.
Before you can use this template on your SIAM platform, you must activate it.
3. Use the custom template
To use a custom template on your SIAM platform, you must activate it by changing its status to "in use".
To activate a template, follow these steps:
- Select your target language and your custom template from the list on the left-hand sidebar.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page.
- Turn on the In use toggle.
- Click Yes, set in use to confirm.
- Verify that a green dot now appears next to your custom template name on the sidebar, indicating it is active.
After you confirm, SIAM immediately applies the text and style of your custom template to the active environment. The graphical properties of the template will become visible to your end-users.
How to restore the default template
To deactivate your custom template and restore the default template, follow these steps:
- Go to SIAM templates and choose the template you want to restore.
- Expand the Language dropdown on the left-hand menu and select your target language.
- Click the active template from the list. You can identify this by the green dot next to its name.
- Turn off the In use toggle to deactivate the template.
After you deactivate your custom template, SIAM automatically returns to using the default template.
If you activated the overridden version in multiple languages, you must repeat these steps for each language.
Available templates
These tables list the available SIAM templates. You can find and manage all templates on the SIAM templates page.
Email templates
These templates define the automated email messages that SIAM sends to your end-users. SIAM sends each email when a specific event or action occurs.
End-user page templates
These templates define the pages and forms that SIAM displays to your end-users in their web browser during specific user flows, such as login or registration.
