SIAM settings

You can use the Settings page in Signicat IAM (SIAM) to manage platform behaviour, login methods, password rules, account lockouts, registration, and user lifecycle automation.

To learn how to do this, see the relevant sections below.

Accessing SIAM settings

To view the settings, select Settings in the left menu of your SIAM platform. If you have read-only access, you can review the current values but cannot change them.

Find and update a setting​

To find and update a setting:

  1. Go to Settings in the left menu.
  2. Search across all settings categories to find the relevant section, or open a category directly.
  3. Update the relevant values.
  4. Save and confirm your changes. You can also discard your changes to restore the last saved values.

The sections below follow the settings categories in SIAM and explain what each setting controls. Your current values depend on how your platform has been configured.

Search coverage

The search functionality covers every category. This means that you do not need to know where a setting is located before looking for it.

Settings with time units​

For settings with a choice of time units, the allowed range applies to the total duration. If you change the unit, then it rounds the value to the nearest valid whole unit.

Important

When changing the time unit, you should always review the converted value before saving.

General and platform settings​

These settings control your platform identity, redirects, language, and outgoing emails. To find them:

  1. Go to Settings in the left menu.
  2. Click General and platform settings.

Login methods​

These settings control authentication methods and two-factor authentication (2FA) requirements for your users. To find them:

  1. Go to Settings in the left menu.
  2. Click Login methods.
Login identifiers

Keep at least one login identifier enabled: email address or username.

Password rules​

These settings control password strength, reuse, expiration, and compliance with your password policy. To find them:

  1. Go to Settings in the left menu.
  2. Click Password rules.

Lockout policies​

These settings control temporary and permanent account locking. To find them:

  1. Go to Settings in the left menu.
  2. Click Lockout policies.

Registration and onboarding​

These settings control how users register, onboarding links, redirects, status tracking, and expired-record cleanup. To find them:

  1. Go to Settings in the left menu.
  2. Click Registration and onboarding.

User lifecycle and maintenance​

These settings control password recovery, inactive accounts, and automated user cleanup. To find them:

  1. Go to Settings in the left menu.
  2. Click User lifecycle and maintenance.
Deleting users

Settings that automatically delete users remove those accounts permanently. Review the related retention settings before enabling automatic deletion.
