Form profiles

Form profiles allow you to manage and localise the validation messages, static system messages and text placeholders displayed on your web forms. Instead of manually editing individual text fields within each form, you can use form profiles to customise the language, branding or tone of voice across your forms.

What steps support form profiles?

Form profiles apply specifically to Form steps in your Mint flows.

How it works​

Form profiles help you manage and configure the following types of messages:

  • Validation and error: Messages that appear when a user enters incorrect information or leaves a required field empty.
  • Static system: General system notifications displayed to users during form interactions.
  • Secondary text: Supplemental descriptions or tooltips that help users complete the form.
  • Buttons text: Microcopy and labels on buttons for users to navigate through the steps of a form.

With form profiles, you can define key-values for all these messages on a single, separate configuration page instead of manually changing each form field in the step configuration. This allows you to apply different brand voices or translate your forms into other languages.

Profile types​

Mint supports two types of form profiles:

  • Template profiles: Predefined, non-editable templates provided by Signicat (such as English default and Swedish). You cannot modify or delete template profiles.
  • Custom profiles: Account-specific profiles that you build from scratch. You can edit, customise and set them as default. If you leave a value empty in a custom profile, Mint automatically falls back to the default system translation. When Signicat adds new form elements, new key-values automatically appear in your custom profiles with default values.

Prerequisites​

To manage your Mint configuration, you must have one of the following roles:

  • Mint Admin
  • Mint Editor

Without a role that provides this minimum access, you cannot view, create or update form profiles.

Roles and permissions

Signicat Mint relies on the Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies at the core of the Signicat Dashboard. To learn more about roles and permissions, see the Managing roles and permissions documentation.

Create a custom form profile​

To create a custom form profile, do the following:

  1. Go to Signicat Mint > Configuration and select Form profiles.
  2. Under Custom profiles, click + Create form profile.
  3. Enter a name for your profile in the Form profile name field.
  4. In the Profile values section, edit the text fields for the available keys to customise your messages.
    Default values

    If you leave any profile value empty, Mint will display the default system translation for that field.

  5. To create the new custom form profile, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Create form profile.

Edit custom form profiles​

You can edit your custom form profiles to update message texts or adjust branding. To do this:

  1. Go to Signicat Mint > Configuration > Form profiles.
  2. Select the custom profile you want to edit.
  3. Click Edit on the top navigation bar.
  4. Update the profile name or modify the individual key-value fields.
  5. Select Save changes to update the profile.
Important

When you edit a custom profile, any form currently using that profile will automatically display the updated text.

Set a default form profile​

You can set a form profile as the default for all your workflows to ensure consistent branding and localisation across your form steps.

Important

When you set a new form profile as the default one, Mint will automatically apply the selected profile to any new form steps you add in the future. Note that this operation does not modify existing form steps within your active workflows.

To set a profile as the default globally in your Mint environment, do the following:

  1. Go to Signicat Mint > Configuration > Form profiles.
  2. Select the custom profile you want to set as default.
  3. Click Set as default on the top navigation bar.
  4. To confirm, click Set as default

Apply form profiles to your flows​

When adding a new form step to your workflow, it is automatically assigned the default form profile. To modify the form profile to apply in a form step in your workflow, do the following:

  1. Go to Signicat Mint > Flows and select your workflow. To create a new workflow, select Signicat Mint > Builder and give your new flow a name.

  2. Add or select any Form step, and add at least one element.

  3. In the step configuration menu, go to Setup > Profile.

  4. Expand the Profile dropdown list and select your custom or template profile.

    Apply profile to all forms

    Optionally, you can choose to also apply this form profile to all form steps in this specific workflow.

    To update all current forms in this specific workflow, select Apply profile to all forms.

Existing forms

The Apply profile to all forms action only affects form steps that already exist in your current active flow. It does not change form steps in other workflows. This will also not edit future form steps in your current active workflow.

Default profile behaviour​

You can manage how form profiles are applied across your workflow in two ways:

  • Apply profile to all forms: This option applies the selected profile to all existing form steps within your current workflow.
  • Default profile: Setting a profile as default ensures that Mint automatically applies it to any new form steps you add to any workflow in the future. This does not apply to existing form steps.
