Identify with eID (formerly Authentication)
Performs end-user identity verification and retrieval of personal information using electronic identities (eIDs), also known as identity providers (IdPs). The Identify with eID step implements the core functionality of the Signicat eID and Wallet Hub to verify the identities of users that want to access your online services.
How it works
With the Identify with eID step, you allow your end-users to verify their identity online using an identity provider, such as Norwegian BankID or MitID.
In the user journey interface, your end-users can choose from a list of providers that you configure in your flow. Once the end-user selects an identity provider, they are routed to the provider-specific authentication page where they verify their identity.
After the user journey is completed, you receive the end-user personal information shared during authentication. You can access and review the data in the Journeys of Signicat Mint.
Other Signicat products involved
The Identify with eID step integrates the Signicat Authentication REST API into your flows. In the visual editor, you define the configuration. Then, Signicat Mint sends requests to the API in the background, without the need for you to write any code.
Signicat Mint offers access to all the eIDs supported by Signicat eID and Wallet Hub. For a full list of eIDs, see the eIDs page.
Add the step
To add the Identify with eID step to your flow, do this:
- In the Signicat Dashboard, navigate to Products > Signicat Mint.
- Open your flow.
- In the Builder UI, select the plus icon (+). Then, select Step.
- In the "Steps" menu on the left, select Identify with eID.
Now, configure the attributes as explained below.
Data
When you add this step in your workflow, you need to configure its attributes. The tables below describe each attribute and its properties.
Input
If you select only one eID in the Allowed providers, the end-user is automatically routed to the provider-specific authentication page, thus skipping the selection screen in the user journey.
Output
Note: By default, all user journeys return additional metadata such as time, ID (session identifier) and status.
Additional configuration
In the Identify with eID step, you can choose from the eIDs (Allowed providers) available in your Signicat account.
To add an eID to your Signicat account:
- In the Signicat Dashboard, navigate to Products > eID and Wallet Hub > eIDs.
- Select + Add new in the top right.
- Choose the eID from the list. Add any required configuration, then select Add.
- Now, review that the eID is available and set to "Active" in the eIDs list.
Some eIDs may require additional configuration. For more information, see the specific eID page.
