This guide shows you how to test an authentication process with the EUDI Wallet directly from the Signicat Dashboard. Testing allows you to experience an identity flow and verify your setup before implementing a connection with an authentication protocol.

Prerequisites​

Before you begin testing in the Signicat Dashboard, make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • Active EUDI Wallet: You need to add the EUDI Wallet to your Signicat account. For instructions, see Configure the EUDI Wallet.
  • Mobile phone: You need a physical mobile device, such as a smartphone, to install the wallet application.
  • Email address: You need a valid email address to receive and accept your test credentials.

Set up your test wallet​

Because identity wallets are decentralised and store data directly on your mobile device, you cannot use simulated web credentials. Instead, you need to download a wallet application on your smartphone to issue mock Person Identification Data (PID).

Signicat supports testing with the iGrant Data Wallet app in combination with the EUDI Wallet connector in the sandbox environment. Then, you can issue the PID into the iGrant wallet using the iGrant issuing service.

1. Download the iGrant Data Wallet​

You first need to download the iGrant Data Wallet on your test mobile device:

2. Issue a test PID to your wallet​

The iGrant issuing service allows you to issue mock PID credentials to your wallet. You can complete this using either a cross-device flow or a same-device flow.

  1. On your desktop computer, go to the iGrant PID issuing page and click Next.
  2. Under Request Test PID, choose PID Rulebook (1.7) as your data model.
  3. Fill in your email address. Optionally, you can edit the other data fields to match the test user profiles you use in your own systems.
  4. Click Request PID to submit your request. You will receive an email from iGrant containing your test credentials.
  5. Check your email and open the email from the iGrant Services. Note the QR code with the PID credentials to add to your wallet.
  6. On your mobile device, open the iGrant Data Wallet app. Alternatively, you can open the app directly from the email link if you open the email from your mobile device.
  7. In the iGrant Data Wallet app, scan the QR code you received in the email. Alternatively, go to Connections, tap the plus icon (+) to add a new connection and scan the QR code you received in the email.
  8. On the WE BUILD Consortium window, select Connect
  9. Enter the PIN you received in the email. Then, review your connection and select Accept.
  10. On the desktop computer return to the iGrant website, then click Next. You can return to this page by clicking the link provided in step 2 of the email.
  11. In your wallet app, navigate to Data Wallet and select Scan to scan the QR code displayed on the desktop screen to complete the issuing. Select Confirm to agree to share the test data.

You have now successfully configured your wallet app. You can use the iGrant Data Wallet app when testing your flows with the eID and Wallet Hub.

Test the flow in the Dashboard​

Once you have successfully configured your iGrant Data Wallet and added the test PID, you can run a test authentication flow directly from the Signicat Dashboard.

To test the authentication flow, do the following:

  1. In the Signicat Dashboard, go to Products > eID and Wallet Hub > eIDs.
  2. Select Test eIDs in the top right corner.
  3. Select EUDI Wallet from the list of available providers. This screen only appears if you have multiple active eID methods in your account.
  4. Signicat displays a QR code on your desktop browser. Open the iGrant Data Wallet app on your mobile device and scan the QR code.
  5. On your mobile device, review the attribute sharing request, then approve the authentication by entering your personal code or by verifying with biometrics.
  6. Return to your desktop browser to review the returned user attributes in the response payload.
